Costco Kirkland Signature Product Reviews

Costco Review: Kirkland Signature Plastic Food Wrap

Plastic food wrap is one of those things that is ubiquitous in the kitchen; you don’t ever notice it, unless you run out, and then it’s a catastrophe of epic proportions. The Kirkland Signature Plastic Food Wrap, which you can buy, unsurprisingly, at Costco, will help ensure that your episodes of panic are few and far between.

Kirkland Signature Plastic Food Wrap: Quality and Ease of Use

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this product, in terms of quality and ease of use both. The cling film is just sticky enough to perform as it should, without being so sticky that it is unusable. The width is an industry standard 12 inches, so it’s wide enough to easily wrap your sandwiches and cover plates and bowls.

Kirkland Signature has introduced a cutter-type dispenser with this plastic food wrap. This differs from the one I had before, which had a row of super sharp teeth. I’m not afraid to admit that I like this method much better. It is both easier to use, reduces waste, and is much safer, especially for kids.

The slider strip comes inside the box; you need to remove a paper film, expose the adhesive and glue it. It takes about 5 seconds. One of the issue that I have with this product is actually the packing. The roll is big enough that there is a distinct possibility that the box may break or fall apart before you’re done with the plastic food wrap. It has happened to me before.

Kirkland Signature Plastic Food Wrap: Price and Value

As this is a Kirkland Signature product, only available at Costco, you can expect great value, and with this Plastic Film Wrap, you are certainly getting it. I purchased this pack of two rolls of film wrap at my local Costco for $12.99 Canadian, plus about 15% taxes, for a total of roughly $14.94. Each roll contains 750 square feet of wrap, for a total of 1,500 square feet for both boxes. The Kirkland Signature Plastic Film Wrap comes out to a smidgen under 1 penny a square foot, or 0.87 pennies if you don’t count the taxes.

For comparison, the Great Value Walmart brand plastic film wrap costs 1.21 pennies per square foot (before taxes). I guarantee you that it is neither great value nor great quality. It costs over 40% more. Another cool thing that I’ve noticed is that the Kirkland Signature Plastic film wrap is actually 0.5 centimeters wider than the Walmart one. This may not seem like much, but if you’ve ever struggled to pull a plastic wrap over a plate, you’ll know that every little bit helps.

Kirkland Signature Plastic Food Wrap: In Conclusion

Costco’s Kirkland Signature Plastic Film Wrap does not make for a very exciting review. I accept this. I’ve done my best. I can’t review delicious snack food all the time. I’m trying to reach middle age here!

This is, however, how savings are generated, and why your Costco Membership pays for itself many times over. Using this product will also help you save money on your food bill, by reducing waste. This plastic film wrap is of very good quality and performs well in all circumstances. It features a new EasyCutter from Berry Global.

It’s a good thing that this is good film wrap, because there’s a lot of it and you’ll be using it for a long time!

Costco Wholesale store

At The Lively Dollar, we LOVE Costco! There’s everything we need, and the value is always incredible. Here are a few tips to help you save a little bit more. These are techniques that we use every week, and there is nothing sneaky about them, Costco actually WANTS you to take advantage of these. You’ll be happy, because you save more, and so will Costco, because you’ll be in the store more often!

Use your Executive Coupons

One of the easiest ways to save at Costco without racking your brains is to use your Executive coupons! Unlike the coupons you receive at the door from the friendly people in red vests that greet you, Executive coupons are received at home, and must be presented to the cashier in order to receive the savings. They are only for Executive Members! If you do not have the Executive level membership, just upgrade – it costs more, but you can save tons just on the coupons, way more that the actual cost of the membership.

Some coupon booklets are sponsored by Procter & Gamble. These guys make everything we use, so it’s real easy to save – think toothpaste, deodorant, laundry detergent, et cetera. Others are sponsored by Kirkland Signature (Costco’s house brand) so you can get everything from frozen beef patties to coffee and more.

Buy Costco Gas

Buying gas at Costco is an easy to pay for your membership, and more, even without setting foot in the warehouse! Let’s say you buy 50 liters of gas a week, at an average savings of 5 cents a liter; you would save $130 a year. Doesn’t look like much, but you’ve just paid for your Executive membership at Costco! If you have the regular Gold Star membership, you’ve put $70 in your pocket! Try to time your gas fill-ups with your Costco runs so that you don’t waste time or fuel.

Buy Weekly Specials in Bulk

Except under very special circumstances, there are no buying limits at Costco. There is no “Limit per Customer’. Feel free to buy the whole pallet if you want! That’s why you should always stock up on regular specials – the ones that they hand at the door when you walk in. If you plan and purchase judiciously, you can make it so that items on special are the only ones you buy! You could cut 10% to 25% off of your bill every time, and that’s nothing to sneeze at!

Shop for Discounted and Clearance Items

Did you ever notice items that are priced ending in .97? Those are clearance items. Assuming that it’s something you would have bought anyways, you can safely stock up on these. Costco is clearing them out to make room for something else, and they are priced to move. We’ve seen savings of up to 90% on those, so know your stock, and your prices, and you can really save big!
